Investment information on the Web
Free, comprehensive information on a myriad
of financial topics is at your fingertips. This workshop introduces
students to financial portals such as Yahoo! Finance,
MSN Money, Marketwatch, and
Morningstar.com. These
websites
present company profiles, financial reports, securities valuation,
screeners, trading statistics, and insider trading. Stock rating
services are also examined, as well as web-based financial letters
such as Dow Theory Letters. |

Computer basics for paper-and-pencil people
This three-part class offers interactive
demonstrations and hands-on practice in a small group setting.
The emphasis is on understanding computer functionality and
navigation from turning on the switch to Internet use.
part I introduces computer hardware and
operating systems;
part II focuses on navigation through standard
computer programs and how to create a Word document;
part III takes students to the Internet
via the Library home page.

This class is for those of us who cannot find
an article we know we just read, or those of us who have an
interest in more information on a particular topic. Learn how
to find articles from a database (of nearly fifteen million
articles! ) that covers current events, popular culture, arts
and sciences, sports, hobbies, health and business. |

up a free email account that you can use anywhere in the world
that provides an Internet connection and a web browser supporting
graphics. Learn how to compose, send, reply to, and attach files
to email messages utilizing Windows Live Hotmail,
the world's largest provider of free, web-based email service,
Gmail, Google's free service, or Yahoo!
