The Mechanics' Institute building is a nine-storey, 60,000 square foot historic landmark. The Library is located on the second and third floors, while the Chess Room and Members' Lounge for speaker events and the CinemaLit film series are located on the fourth floor. Private offices occupy the fifth through the ninth floors of the building.

The Meeting Room / Café is located on the fourth floor and is available to rent on an hourly basis when they are not in use for Institute programs.
