Womens’/Girls’/Gender Expansive Individuals Tournament
Open for everyone -- Non-rated event.

Tournament capacity: 80 players.
Masks are optional in the chess room.
1. Date & Location
- Saturday, Oct 14, 2023 at 1PM
- Location: Mechanics' Institute Chess Room

2. Tournament Format:
- Tournament Format: Swiss System
- Total Rounds: 4
- Round Times: 10AM and the rest is on a rolling schedule
- Time Control: G/25;d5 (Game in 25 minutes with a 5-second delay at each move.)
- Sections: will be determined as signups and what's best for the players.
- Pairings are based on the Oct 2023 OTB or ONL supplemental regular US Chess rating if players have one.
- Event is non-rated. No US Chess membership is needed.
3. Byes
- Byes are available for players in case they can't participate but would like to stay in the tournament.
- Byes can be requested for a maximum of 2 rounds, with receiving one point for each round (half point for each game in a round).
- Late registrations will receive two half-point byes for any missed round, up to a total of 2 rounds.
4. Prize Fund -- TBA
- Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing prize checks.
- Per IRS rules anyone with a cumulative $600+ prizes in any calendar year will need to fill out a W9 and Mechanics' Institute will be providing a 1099 form.
5. Registration:
- MI library member: $15
- Non-MI library member: $20

7. Tournament Rules
- General US Chess rules apply with some leniency due to being non-rated.
- Forfeit time is 25 minutes.
