Dead Space game inspired by The Thing movie

Dead Space (2023) is a remake of the original 2008 video game Dead Space made by Motive Studio. It is a single player survival horror video game set in the 26th century where you play as Issac Clarke, an engineer tasked with investigating a distress signal coming from the planetary mining vessel called the USG Ishimura. The game is a cross between Event Horizon, a movie starring Sam Neil and Laurence Fishburne, in which they investigate a distress signal from a spaceship which caused the crew to go insane, and The Thing (1982), a movie about an isolated group that has to survive against an alien parasite that assimilates flesh.

In the game Dead Space, the mining crew of the Ishimura uncover an alien monolith that is used as a source of unlimited energy called the “Marker.” The Marker emits signals that cause the people around it to go insane and homicidal. It repurposes remains to create undead abominations called “Necromorph” which in turn kill more people causing even more necromorphs. The game takes place in the late stages of the outbreak where most of the crew is dead. The game is about you playing as Issac trying to find a way off the Ishimura and discovering the mysteries of the Marker.
