
The Mechanics Institute has added 7 new titles to our roster of print magazines in 2025, you can peruse these and check them out on the 3rd fl. of the Library:
Reader's Digest Large Print version
The Advocate/Out features a variety of topics–politics, entertainment, and news–with an LGBTQ focus. It is a flipbook-style magazine and will be shelved under "Advocate."
Essence is a Black women's lifestyle magazine, covering fashion, beauty, entertainment, and social issues.
The Guardian Weekly is a news magazine, started in 1919 and based in London. It has a global focus, featuring world news as well as lifestyle, culture, and opinion pieces.
The Magazine Antiques contains articles on a variety of antiques-related topics. Exhibitions and accessions at museums, interviews with curators, and a spotlight on particular types (such as jewelry or textiles) are all included.
Poetry is a 110-year-old publication that showcases contemporary poetry of any style, genre, or type. Throughout its history, it has published T.S. Eliot, Marianne Moore, Carl Sandburg, Audre Lorde, and others. Currently, the magazine has themed issues, such as one featuring Indigenous American poets.
Prevention magazine focuses on many aspects of health, both physical and mental. Seasonal allergies, food safety, healthy recipes, and answers to readers' questions are some of the topics covered. Every issue also includes Brain Games, to stimulate mental focus.
Reader's Digest is a general interest magazine, featuring articles in different sections such as "Drama In Real Life", "Just For Fun", Health, and true stories shared by readers. The edition we have subscribed to is the large print edition.
In addition to these new titles, we offer many more titles in print for casual reading near the sunny windows in the library or you can check them out and enjoy them at home.
