Looking for serious chess in a flexible, weeknight format? The Tuesday Night Marathon (TNM) is San Francisco’s premier weeknight chess tournament, welcoming everyone from seasoned Masters to motivated beginners. With over 50 years of tradition, it’s one of the longest-running weeknight tournaments in the U.S.

Event Dates: Tuesdays between July 8 and August 19

Time: Rounds begin weekly at 6:30 PM

Format: 7-round Swiss, one game each Tuesday

Location: Mechanics’ Institute Chess Club, San Francisco (direction)

Whether you're chasing rating points or just want a consistent, competitive environment to sharpen your skills, the TNM is the perfect place. The format is ideal for busy players—you get serious, slow-paced tournament games without giving up your weekend.
