Chess Tournament

Thursday, Jul 24 | 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The first public event with our new Grandmaster-in-residence, former U.S. Champion Sam Shankland:

Lecture and Special Blitz with GM Sam Shankland

The lecture will start at 5:30 pm and is free for the public to attend.

Lecture: Staying principled against playable sidelines

Not every opponent plays mainline theory — and they don’t have to. In this lecture, Sam will explore how to face offbeat but playable openings with confidence by sticking to sound principles and clear plans. We’ll look at practical examples, key ideas, and how to stay solid and active no matter what opening you're facing.

The lecture is open for players of all levels who want to build confidence against surprise systems and non-mainline play.
