Since 2001, Mechanics' Institute has hosted The Proust Seminar, which reads Proust’s 7-volume In Search of Lost Time every three years, meeting the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The seminar is led by Dr. Mark Calkins, Lecturer at San Francisco State University.
This event is held onsite and continues the the cycle with Marcel Proust's Finding Time Again. Sessions held on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, between September 3 to December 19, 2025 from 5:30-6:30pm.
