Real Impact: The New Economics of Social Change (Nation Books)
Author Morgan Simon in conversation with Activist and Fundraiser Kath Delaney, Madera Group

Impact investment, the support of social and environmental projects with a financial return, has become a hot topic in the world's philanthropy and development circles, and is growing exponentially: in the next decade, it is poised to eclipse traditional aid by ten times. Yet for all the excitement, there is work to do to ensure it actually realizes its potential. Will impact investment empower millions of people worldwide, or will it just replicate the same failures that have plagued the aid and antipoverty industry?

Morgan Simon is a widely-recognized leader in impact investment who builds bridges between finance and social justice.  Over the past seventeen years, she has influenced over $150 billion in capital.  Simon currently co-leads Candide Group, which supports Pi Investments and the Libra Foundation in executing their 100% impact agendas. She is also co-founder and chair of the non-profit Transform Finance. A graduate of Swarthmore College, Simon serves as an adjunct professor at Middlebury College's graduate school program. She lives in the Bay Area.

Kath Delaney founded Madera Group, a San Francisco Bay Area development and communications agency in 2004, to advance the causes she feels are critical to social and political change. In her career, she has led and managed non-profit organizations and designed and directed mass scale social impact campaigns. Kath and her colleagues at Madera Group have raised millions pf dollars for progressive organizations and political candidates. She has promoted opinion leaders, heads of state, and cultural and policy initiatives to global audiences through the press and media. Kath works in partnership with her clients on vital campaigns for women’s leadership, health care reform, economic and social justice, environmental and climate change initiatives, global security issues, and the arts.
