Founded in 1854, the Institute has long been a hub for innovation, learning, and community. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the Mechanics’ Institute offers a unique glimpse into San Francisco’s rich cultural heritage.

We offer free public tours every Wednesday at Noon, where visitors can explore our beautiful library, world-renowned chess room, and storied past.  Sign-up
