Registration

  • Online Registration Open Until: Saturday, May 30: 10:00 pm

Tournament Format

  • Tournament Format: Swiss System
  • Total Rounds: 4
  • Time control: 30 min basetime + 5 sec delay
  • Round Times: 5/31 10:00am and remaining rounds are on a rolling schedule
  • Sections: USCF Rated Non-Rated

Rounds are starting on time so be sure to be on time. All rounds after the first round will be on a rolling schedule, i.e. round 2 and onwards will start immediately after all games are finished and next round is paired.

 

Sections will be further split based on rating and age.

Tournament Rules

 

 

Sick Policy:
The Mechanics' Institute Chess Club asks that any player who is feeling unwell withdraw from the tournament to help protect the health of others. The club reserves the right to deny entry to players who appear visibly ill. Players who withdraw due to illness before the start of the tournament will receive a full refund as a credit to their Jumbula account.

FAQs

We aim to start the first round at 10am, please arrive by 9:50 am at the latest.

 

If your chess player can no longer participate, please let us know so we can remove them from the registration and ensure accurate pairings.

 

There is no dedicated parking for event participants. Public parking is available on the surrounding streets and garages. Biking and public transportation are great options; the event is right next to Civic Center BART.

 

Food will not be sold on-site, but can be purchased around the area. There will also be a Farmer's Market going on across the street.

 

We recommend you bring food, snacks, and drinks for your child, as well as camping chairs for comfort during downtime.

 

Public restrooms are available at the nearby library.
