Crossing to Safety
by Wallace Stegner

book cover

Crossing to Safety follows two couples through life, Larry and Sally Morgan, and Sid and Charity Lang, who meet every year at a compound in Vermont. The introduction by Terry Tempest Williams proclaims "Crossing to Safety is a love story... in the sense that it explores private lives. No outsider ever knows the interior landscape of a marriage." Crossing to Safety was a National Book Critics Circle Award Nominee for Fiction in 1987.
