Join us for an illustrated presentation and discussion by map expert Jim Schein about his new book Gold Mountain, Big City. This lushly designed book serves as a time capsule of San Francisco’s Chinatown, illustrating the stories of the neighborhood’s unique businesses, culture, and people encountered by map artist Ken Cathcart between 1939 and 1955. The book contains Cathcart’s map and is supplemented by never before seen black and white photographs and meticulous research by Jim Schein. Books with a fold out map included will sell for $40 each.
