Graveyard Clay
by Martin O’Cadhain

A new (2016) translation of Máirtín Ó Cadhain's Cré na Cille by Liam Mac Con Iomaire and Tim Robinson. Graveyard Clay is a black humor tale of the newly dead chatting at a graveyard. Originally published in 1949, Cré na Cille is a celebrated work of modern Irish literature. Yale University Press also published its previous English translation, The Dirty Dust (2015) by Alan Titley. Read and discuss what John Banville calls "a modern masterpiece that has remained locked away from non-Irish speakers for too long."

This is the second of two meetings discussing this work.

This group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month (excluding holidays). All MI members are welcome to drop in to these meetings.
