A Manual for Cleaning Women is selected stories from Lucia Berlin, a writer overlooked in her lifetime, but now celebrated by contemporary critics, writers, and readers as a legend of the short-story format. The World Literature Book Group will discuss the following works: "Dr. H. A. Moynihan," "A Manual for Cleaning Women," "Good and Bad," "Strays," "Dear Conchi," "So Long," "Mama," "Silence," "502," and "B.F. and Me."
World Literature is a member-led group. It's free to all members, and all are welcome to attend. Many of the selections discussed are critically acclaimed works translated into English. World Literature Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month (excluding holidays).
