Writers' Group Meet and Greet

This event is being conducted via Zoom. Please register via this link.

Do you have a manuscript that’s been collecting dust in the attic, or one that’s fresh on the page? Mechanics' Institute currently hosts 12 groups and two of them need new members! Please come to this meet and greet to see if these groups are for you! These groups will meet virutally for the foreseeable future (until the shelter-in-place is lifted and gatherings are permitted).

Mystery Writing Group (Thursdays)
We are a group of experienced writers working on mystery, crime, and thriller fiction. We meet for 2 hours every week on Thursday and read works of about 1800 words out loud and then critique it in the meeting. We are looking to replace 2 members that have moved on with new members committed to producing work each week.

General Fiction Writing Group (Thursdays)
We are a group of experienced writers working in literary fiction. We meet for two hours every other week. We submit a complete chapter or short story,  but only read one page aloud and then critique. For novels, we ask members to submit a synopsis.  We are looking for up to three members.
