Writing for Children - "It's a Bunny Eat Bunny World"

Join Penny Warner for an exciting class on children's writing! The class begins with an overview: the different categories of children's books, popular topics today, what's selling, how to present your own story, dealing with difficult topics, and how to be a better children's writer. Penny will also share tips on how prepare your manuscript for publication, writing the compelling query letter, creating a synopsis or outline of the story, finding an agent, working with editors and publishers, what to look for in a contract.

Penny Warner has published over 70 books for both adults and children. Her middle-grade mystery series, THE CODE BUSTERS CLUB, has been nominated for six awards and has won three. The books feature four diverse kids who solve a mystery by cracking codes in each chapter, and have been published in Japan, Korea, Brazil, Turkey, and New Zealand. You can join the Code Busters Club at www.codebustersclub.com. Her non-fiction book, THE OFFICIAL NANCY DREW HANDBOOK, was nominated for an Agatha Award. Penny taught child development at Diablo Valley College for 30 years. She can be reached at pennywarnerink@yahoo.com.
