Part-time Lobby Attendant

Mechanics' Institute is currently hiring for one Part-time Lobby Attendant and one On-call Lobby Attendant.
POSITION SUMMARY

Working under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Operations, the Lobby Attendant monitors the activity of the lobby, all building floors, the front doors, and the immediate area outside of the building. The Lobby Attendant is responsible for greeting patrons at the entrance, monitoring deliveries, checking in contractors, and keeping the lobby presentable. The Lobby Attendant will also assist the Facility Manager in monitoring the building’s life safety system and in assisting patrons as needed. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and some experience in a customer service environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain lobby areas to ensure they are clean and presentable
  • Greet and assist patrons, give directions and information, and provide access to secure floors of the building
  • Monitor the building’s fire life safety system (FLS) and assist the Facility Manager with emergency procedures
  • Perform basic building opening requirements and secure the building at closing
  • Provide customer service and answer patrons’ questions
  • Support staff when addressing concerns with patrons and guests, and follows protocols to assist with building security
  • Assist guests with special needs as needed
  • Monitor deliveries and sign in vendors entering the building
  • Prepare daily activity reports (DAR) and incident reports as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Excellent customer service skills – ability to communicate with members, staff, and the public in a friendly and professional manner by phone and in person
  • At least one year of lobby attendant or customer service experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Requires the ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, reach overhead, and climb stairs.
  • May require sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
  • Will be required to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Compensation is $26.65/hour
  • Membership to Mechanics' Institute.
  • Qualify for sick time and commuter benefits as outlined in the employee handbook.
