Blindness
by Jose Saramago

An epidemic of "white blindness" infects a whole city as victims are captured and thrown into an insane asylum. Guards are told to kill anyone who escapes. But what happens when one intrepid soul fakes her blindness in order to be with her husband? Written by Jose Saramago, one of Portugal's most important authors and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Blindness is considered Saramago's most poignant work.

This is the first of two meetings on Blindness.

World Literature is a member-led group. It's free to all members, and all are welcome to attend. Many of the selections discussed are critically acclaimed works translated into English. World Literature Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month (excluding holidays).
