The Evolution of Civilizations

The rise and fall of civilizations predates the beginning of recorded history. In The Evolution of Civilizations, master historian Carroll Quigley sets out a seven-stage cycle which describes a civilization’s development, expansion, and decay.

This book club is free for Mechanics Institute members, or $20 for non-members. It is hosted by Ben Landau-Taylor, a political scientist and historian. This book club will be held over the course of four Tuesdays: August 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 6-7:30pm in the Library (Classroom B on the 3rd floor).

The Evolution of Civilizations is available at the Mechanics' Institute library, or by purchasing at your favorite local bookstore or online.

We reserve the right to cancel at any time and issue a full refund. If you are unable to attend the seminar, please email [email protected] by Monday, July 31, 2023, to receive a full refund less any non-refundable ticketing fees which may be applicable. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. After Monday, July 31, 2023 no refunds will be issued.
