The Importance of Being Earnest (1952)
March 2017: Imposter!

Directed by Anthony Asquith
Michael Redgrave, Richard Wattis

Jack Worthing is a bon vivant who's invented a fictional libertine brother named Ernest to cover a gadabout life in London. His friend Algernon appropriates the name for himself while wooing Jack's ward, Cecily. Confusing, yes, but it's based on an Oscar Wilde play so it's also a delightful comedy puncturing 19th century stuffiness along with the British obsession with lineage and class. All of the cast is outstanding, but Edith Evans' portrayal as that Victorian dragon of propriety, Lady Bracknell, is legendary.
